Gov. Daniels Calls for Realistic Budget
May 19th, 2009
Gov. Daniels calls for budget based in reality.

Indiana lawmakers ended the regular session without passing a two-year budget. House Democrats (predictably) blamed Governor Mitch Daniels, while Daniels shot back (particularly at Speaker Pat Bauer) pointing out that “In the real world, when your income goes down, you lower your spending, not raise it.”
The budget impasse requires that Gov. Daniels must call the legislature back for a special session to produce a budget. Daniels is urging lawmakers to cut back on spending so Indiana can be one of the first states to pull out of recession.
