SB Tribune Calls for Consideration of Tax Abatement Ordiance Repeal

The editorial board of the South Bend Tribune recently called for the County Council to have a frank discussion about the County's current restrictive tax abatement ordiance.  Excerpt:

Republican Dale Devon in January introduced a resolution to repeal the current tax abatement ordinance. It's been stalled in the Budget and Administration committee ever since. Council members ought to bring it forward for discussion and accept the outcome of talks, even if they end up agreeing to disagree. Whatever ordinance is in place, those seeking an abatement should be able to trust the council stands by its merits.
