"St. Joseph County Might Purchase Priuses, After All"
The South Bend Tribune reports. Excerpt:
The fate of a pair of 2010 Toyota Priuses now rests with the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.
County Council member Mark Root, R-District I, said today the board can purchase the vehicles, if it chooses, with money already appropriated in the 2010 budget.
Root said the money, $7,200, likely would come from either the Community Economic Development Income Tax Fund or the Cumulative Capital Development Fund.
"The intent is to still purchase the vehicles," Commissioner Andy Kostielney, R-District 1, said today.
Kostielney said he and fellow Commissioner Bob Kovach, D-District 3, hope to come up with a purchase plan "in the very near future."
